We are proud to spotlight Dr. Vania Fernandez, a distinguished interventional pain specialist, educator, and physician leader whose impact extends across clinical care, advocacy, and medical education. Dr. Fernandez will be honored on March 28 by State Representative Marie Woodson, in recognition of her outstanding leadership and contributions as a female physician.
Dr. Fernandez currently serves as President-Elect of the Florida Society of Interventional Pain Physicians and is a Past President of the Broward County Medical Association, where she has remained actively involved in advancing physician leadership and patient advocacy for more than a decade. Her academic roles include Assistant Professor at the Nova Southeastern University Dr. Kiran C. Patel College of Allopathic Medicine and founding faculty member at the Florida International University Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine.
Beyond Broward, Dr. Fernandez plays a key role in organized medicine at the state and national levels, serving as a Delegate to the American Medical Association and holding leadership roles within the Florida Medical Association. Her career reflects a steadfast dedication to mentorship, advocacy, and advancing the voice of physicians in shaping the future of healthcare.
