Broward County Medical Association Revives The Record with Special Centennial Edition Celebrating 100 Years of Service

July 28, 2026 9:53 AM | Anonymous

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — The Broward County Medical Association (BCMA) is proud to announce the publication of a special commemorative edition of The Record, the association's official publication, marking a milestone in the organization's 100-year history.

Originally launched in 1956 by Dr. Russell B. Carson, Broward County's first urologist and a former BCMA president, The Record chronicled the evolution of medicine in Broward County while highlighting the physicians, leaders, and initiatives that shaped the local medical community. The publication's final issue was released in September 2016.

Now, a decade later, The Record returns with a special centennial edition produced exclusively to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Broward County Medical Association, founded in 1926.

The publication offers a concise retrospective of the association's first century, highlighting the milestones, physician leadership, advocacy efforts, educational initiatives, and enduring commitment to advancing the medical profession and improving the health of the Broward County community.

"As we celebrate BCMA's centennial, this special edition of The Record captures a century of physician leadership, service, advocacy, and innovation. It reflects the legacy of those who built this organization and the vision of the physicians who continue to shape the future of medicine in Broward County. We are proud to preserve our history while inspiring the next generation of physician leaders," said Dr. Christopher Chang, President of the Broward County Medical Association.

The commemorative edition also recognizes the organizations that supported the Broward County Medical Association at its centennial celebration. Their support helped make the association's 100th anniversary initiatives possible and is acknowledged throughout this special publication.

The release of The Record is one of several initiatives commemorating the BCMA's centennial year, which has included educational programs, advocacy activities, physician leadership initiatives, and community events celebrating a century of organized medicine in Broward County.
