The 6th Annual Dade County Medical Association Research Competition for residents and medical students enrolled in Miami-Dade and Broward counties, will be held on March 1st, 2025. Finalists will present their research or clinical case reports before a panel of judges.
The submission deadline for abstracts is December 31, 2024.
This prestigious competition accepts abstracts that cover case reports, original research, quality improvement initiatives, and advocacy projects. It provides a platform for residents and medical students to showcase their work and contribute to the advancement of medical knowledge within the local and state medical community.
The DCMA Research Competition is comprised of various categories, and each category has its specific guidelines that must be reviewed thoroughly before submission.
Entries
Medical Students:
Students will identify the Category they are applying to:
- Case reports
- Original research
- Quality improvement initiatives
- Advocacy projects
And also indicate whether the submission is a:
- Poster
- Podium Presentation
Finalists will include three posters and three podium presentations.
Residents:
These may be US and Foreign Medical Graduates participating in a US-ACGME-approved program.
Residents will identify the Category they are applying to:
- Case reports
- Original research
- Quality improvement initiatives
- Advocacy projects
And also indicate whether the submission is a:
- Poster
- Podium Presentation
Finalists will include three posters and three podium presentations.
Research Fellows/Advanced Degree Medical Students:
Research Fellows/Advanced Degree Medical Students will identify the Category they are applying to:
- Case reports
- Original research
- Quality improvement initiatives
- Advocacy projects
And also indicate whether the submission is a:
- Poster
- Podium Presentation
General Guidelines
- Guidance for poster entries will be provided.
- Poster presentations will be 5-minute in length with 2-3 minutes for Q&A.
- Podium presentations entries will be submitted as a Power Point and a general summary to be screened.
- Podium presentations will be 5-minute in length with 2-3 minutes for Q&A.
By submitting an abstract, authors agree to adhere to all competition guidelines, policies, and procedures. Accepted submissions will be featured in presentations, and participants are expected to present their research as part of the competition.
Author Conflict of Interest/Research Funding Disclosure
In line with DCMA's commitment to transparency, all authors must disclose any financial relationships or conflicts of interest in their submissions. Lead authors are responsible for ensuring that all co-authors complete their disclosure requirements prior to the submission deadline. Submissions will not be finalized until all disclosures are complete, and failure to comply may result in disqualification.
All sources of funding for research must be disclosed in the submission and acknowledged in any presentation materials, such as posters or slides.
